Third Door wins Teen People's band search
competition
The teens went crazy over Third Door.
The Holly Pond rock band won Teen Peoples magazine's grand prize
in the publication's Five Live Search for the best band. Third
Door will now record its song " Little Crazy" this
fall and have it included on a Warner Brothers CD of songs from
famous recording artists.
The band found out about its win by letter that arrived Monday.
The letter came to Gadsden, and Jarrod Oliver was designated
as the on to go retrieve it. "I didn't dare open it until
I got back," he said "Then when we saw we had won
we went crazy."
The band's song was selected as the favorite by readers who
voted on-line and by telephone. The song competed against four
other songs by bands from around the country. Thousands of bands
entered the contest, and Third Door was one of five to make
the finals.
Oliver said he doesn't know when the band will go to New York
to record the song, but he has been told that the CD is due
out before the end of the year. The band will be the only unknown
band on a CD that will feature some of Warner Brothers' top
music stars.
" In the meantime just sit tight and enjoy the victory
and excitement of what the future hold for you," said the
letter from Teen People.
Third Door lead singer Jason McBrayer is from Holly Pond. The
band recorded its new CD, Apartment 82, in an apartment the
musicians rented in Hanceville. The CD thanks residents of Apartment
81 who tolerated the music sessions and recordings.
Third Door's music probably fits into the category of Top 40,
Jarrod Oliver said. The music is alternative and pop-rock
